Hey,
I’m always in awe of how some songs magically find you when you need them the most. It is exactly what happened to me with RIO KOSTA’s new release - "Ancients". Everything resonated immediately - lyrical, vocal, and musical layers perfectly combined together.
“I’ve got a feeling I’ve been here before
I know you feel it too
And for some reason when I went through the door
A part of me is you, with everyone we knew
In a past life
In a past life
In a past life
A long time ago
In a past life
And I’m gonna see you again”
If you haven’t heard of RIO KOSTA yet, now’s the time to tune in. They don’t disappoint - each of their debut tracks hits magically. The LA-based duo, Mike Del Rio and Kosta Galanopoulos, recently dropped "Ancients", and it’s a total vibe. They blended vintage soul with dreamy, modern grooves. It feels like dancing through a memory you can’t quite place… half past life, half perfect present. Here’s why:
“We wrote this in the beginning stages of the band, when we were still figuring out what this project was. It became a cornerstone of the sound and happened very quickly. It was based around a loop we made from Kosta’s fathers Greek band from the ‘70s. We did the majority of it live in the moment, probably around 2am on a Tuesday night sometime in late 2021. The world was in a weird place and questionable place and we were commiserating about our own destiny and previous incarnations as people. The theme felt ancient sounding, like it was pulled from the beginning of time which prompted the title and the direction of the song.”
— Mike Del Rio
The track oozes warmth, rhythm, and just enough mysticism and catchiness to make you hit repeat. It’s global, it’s personal, and it’s got that magic you don’t need to explain. Put it on, close your eyes, and let it carry you somewhere timeless.
Some songs don’t just sound good. They feel like they remember you. And "Ancients" is one of those. Listen closely and let me know where it takes you.
Until the next time,
Dziękuję Stygi :) Pięknie wibrująca w ciele muzyka !
