Midweek Crisis #1
Biweekly Music Newsletter Start š Featured: Fred again.. x The Blessed Madonna, Bakar, Mtbrd (Damn Fine Coffee āļø), Ernest Ranglin, The Beatles, Tony Renis, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band & more
š Hey, hi, hello,
Lately, I was contemplating my longtime urge to share songs that move me. Every single day I broaden my musical horizons and satisfy my inner melomaniac š§. I love the energy that every track brings and believe in the power of stimulating each other through music. Well-selected songs have the power to cheer up, amuse, make somebody think, or express something that cannot be put into words. Pure magic āØ.
Back in the day, Iāve been making mixtapes for my closest ones on cassettes, then on CDās and now I send them Spotify playlists or just bombard them with single songs š£. Amount of people Iām spamming with my recommendations is constantly rising. Now I would like to invite you to share this journey with me ā”ļø. It will be amazing if you let me hear a bit of your world too. Go ahead and send me your current faves if you feel like it. I will be happy to listen to it and possibly share it here.
If youāre often experiencing deep dissatisfaction because of the lack of new sounds as I do, this newsletter is for you. Regularly, biweekly on Wednesday, youāll receive an email with a bunch of songs that resonated with me. Especially on Wednesday when weāre all experiencing the Midweek Crisis we could all use some good vibes, donāt we?
Enjoy Midweek Crisis #1 and happy listening!
Yours truly,
Agnieszka (Stygi) SkupiÅska
Something Energetic š
Fred again.. x The Blessed Madonna - Marea (Weāve Lost Dancing)
Weāve truly lost dancing last year because of the pandemic. This song makes you think about how wonderful it will be on your first night out clubbing after all of this. Itās a great tune that brings on 90ās/early 00ās nostalgia and a ton of positive vibes. It gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it āØ.
Something Fun & Summery āļø
Bakar - Hell N Back
Why do I share this track? Because of the cool whistles, chill, summer vibe and quaint text about first impressions of the loved one (āshe had eyes green like Mountain Dewā)ā¦ and this cute lisping of the singer š I heard this song last year when the sun was setting and it made me think about my own memories of when I first saw my significant other. Itās one of the tracks that never gets boring.
Something for Coffee-Time āļø
Mtbrd - Damn Fine Coffee
Undoubtedly one of the best coffee-related songs ever! Chillhop tune combined with iconic āTwin Peaksā quote. Agent Cooperās voice for sure will make you crave a cup of coffee, even if youāve just emptied one.

Something Weather-Based āļøāļø
Ernest Ranglin - In The Rain
A reggae disco cover of The Dreamers ballad of the same title. Dreamy, melodic vibe with a looped chorus that chants āI wanna go outside in the rainā. Itās ideal to get through a rainy day with a smile on your face.
Something Thought-Provoking š
The Beatles - Blackbird
I love this song for its simplicity and natural vibe with actual blackbird singing recorded. āBlackbirdā is the perfect example of heartening music that hides true depth inside. Paul McCartney wrote this song soon after his trip to India. And there are two versions of how we can interpret it. One, that itās simply about blackbird the bird, and one more symbolic, that itās the metaphor of the struggle for civil rights in the 1960s.
I like it when there are more layers to the song than the most obvious ones. Definitely stuck-on-repeat type.
Something āOld But Goldā š
Tony Renis - Quando, Quando, Quando
Itās one of those songs which you canāt stop humming. Simple, short, and about love. The quintessence of 60's Italian pop. Bella!
Something Stimulating š§
Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band - Crockett Theme
Well-known āMiami Viceā motif and the 80ās vibe in Caribbean style combined by the German group. Nice mix, right? Ok, so put this record on and get stimulated!
Something Empowering šŖ
Daniel Pemberton - Take You Down
Coo-coo crazy song that makes me feel powerful. This song is from āThe Boysā Amazon Original series soundtrack. If you havenāt seen it yet, I strongly suggest you catch up. Iām not a fan of superheroes stories, but this one is something not Marvel-like. Itās violent and unpredictable, has juicy dialogues and itās loaded with jaw-dropping special effects. The scenario is well-written with many plot twists and it has a greatly put-together cast. In my rating, itās 10/10.
Something from the Game š®
Too Many Zoos & KDA - Warriors
Ultra-cheerful song from the āSackboyā game (which btw is loaded with great tracks). This trumpet tune is stuck on repeat in my head. I highly recommend you to check out this songās video clip - itās wild.
Ok, so thatās all for today.
