Wishing you Wszystkiego Najlepszego! on Mikołajki 🎅🎁🎶
Celebrating Mikołajki & traditionally sharing good vibes through music | MC #62
Wszystkiego Najlepszego!
That’s the way we wish “all the best!” in Poland. Today we celebrate something called Mikołajki. Each year on December 6th we exchange gifts… as if there weren't enough of them during the holidays 😉. But after all, every occasion is a good time to give and get something, right?
The tradition of giving gifts on Mikołajki comes from a tale dating back to the Middle Ages and the life story of the famous early Christian bishop Mikołaj from Mira (Saint Nicholas of Myra), who on December 6 secretly gave gifts to children, took care of those in need, and performed miracles. According to Wikipedia, he was also a patron saint of many: children 👶👧👦, unmarried people, sailors ⛵️, merchants, archers 🏹, repentant thieves, brewers 🍺, pawnbrokers, and students in various cities and countries around Europe.
Let me know if you celebrate something similar, or not:
