▶️ Biicla - "BE WITH U (NO MATTER)"
That’s my favorite track from Biicla’s new album "HYPER HOUSE" (2024) which serves a short (less than 25-minute) fun ride with seriously hyper-energetic vibes 🎢. It’s a kind of music that helps you make simple tasks 48239842343 times faster, so if you’re swamped with work I highly recommend you listen to it.
The new dance album by Biicla called 'HYPER HOUSE' is an imaginary club, where the main hero is the listener. The vibe in this house is UK influenced modern take on bass / garage with a kind flow and naked emotions. The record has been in the making last 3 years and you could have heard some singles from the album already - Gas (4.21), MAKING NEW, MISS YA were all released via System 108 in 2023, the label has also become by accident a new home for the artist. Before arriving on System 108, Biicla has been releasing music for a while and getting exposure in big US Festivals, like Lollapalooza, Hard Summer, Bonaboo and many more, celebrating millions of streams worldwide. With System 108, Biicla found a new home and new dedicated audience, and it seems like a match made in heaven.

▶️ Baby Rose & BADBADNOTGOOD - "One Last Dance"
Well… for sure this is about to be on repeat a lot. Without hesitation, I put this song in the top 5 of my best discoveries this year so far. Baby Rose’s soulful voice is truly exceptional, the lyrics are heart-wrenching, and the melody is wonderfully soothing. Ooof how I love these flute sounds 🪈... The whole thing has a kind of movie-like, vintage atmosphere, and I’m absolutely stunned by it! ✨✨✨ I think it won’t leave you disappointed.
“‘One Last Dance’ is important to me because it reflects my feelings of longing and love for someone who sees me as a villain in their story. I used to blame them too, but with time, realized where I was wrong and ultimately hoped for a chance to make it right. There’s a strong part of me that wishes we could try again, pretend it never fell apart, even while knowing it will never be the same. The longing is less about the person and more about the feelings behind the memories we shared. A true testament to the growing pains in life, the music is a sweet underscore of a longing, pride-less goodbye.”
▶️ Nibana - "Earth From Above"
"Earth From Above" comes from the album of the same name released in 2018 by the French producer Kevin B. Every song in there is incredibly soaked up with emotions that hit harder than usual, and shoot right into your heart. But this one is special. The song truly shines with etherealness and flows in a stream of psybient.
Here comes the special thanks to Marek for sending me this beauty, when I needed such soothing, downtempo sounds the most ✨. When I found the following description on Bandcamp it helped me figure out why this song resonated with me so deeply…
A caressing homage to the recent passing of his father, Nibana’s “Earth from Above” is a heavenly psybient project overflowing with emotional composition and powerful melodies.
As touching as it is interesting, this hour-long voyage is a climatic dubdream of tear-jerking electronica and adventurous synthscapes. Hidden betwixt an atmospheric world of colorful drum kits, charming saxophone, and deep pads lies a soulful story straight from the heart.
Each chapter of this orchestral concourse flows together in a conceptual ideaology, one that will satisfy old school audiophiles and auditory newcomers alike.
Prepare yourself for an ethereal journey through the cosmos, for the sublime rhythms of this hypnotic release are strikingly beautiful, and one may find themselves drifting into another realm.
A word from Nibana : " Hey everyone, here is my new album Earth From Above that will be dedicated to my late father. This album is a highly personal journey that has been created alongside the evolution of my dad's disease until his final breath, breath he took after listening to the last track of this album sharing earplugs with my mother, that was created after I learned there was no saving him. Now, let’s vote!
Don’t hesitate to share your current faves, I’m always excited when you send them.
Have a great weekend!
Yours,
After listening to the first track I thought for sure that would be my pick, until I heard the second and began to vacillate. By the third track I was even more confused—they’re all great tracks and sooo different. After reading about the third one and listening to more of it I had to settle on it. It feels as though I would come back to it the most. I was surprised/not surprised to see where all the votes landed. But BADBADNOTGOOD are excellent and have a great reputation. Fun vote!
So happy to have weekly report back in my Substack inbox, welcome back! One Last Dance gets my vote this week, it’s spectacular and I’m listening to the EP right now.
